We recently were asked to provide a last-minute venue DJ for a pub in Watford, Hertfordshire. They were celebrating their first year of being open under new management, however, the DJ they did have booked had double booked themselves and had to cancel last minute. The pub in question was a beautifully designed and decorated gastropub called the Kings Stag, located on Bournehall Road. They had undergone a full refurbishment and had attracted a great local crowd to come and join the party. The manager wanted a classic party with a range of music for everyone, this included club classics, 70s and 80s and chart music. The night started with a small amount of background music and as the pints started flowing and the feet started moving the crowd on the dance floor began to grow, the key to being a good DJ is once you get those first few dancers you keep working and building the numbers until the whole crowd is on the dancefloor and singing along.
The night started early at 6 pm but by 9 pm everyone was up and having a good time, by 10 pm people were dancing so hard that you could see the sweat coming down from their brows. This wasn’t the most attractive thing but at least it showed they were having a good time. To keep in theme with the pub’s gastro design we brought along up lighting so we could gently change the colour and feel of the venue using gentle lighting. For the audio we used two Wharfedale EVP speakers with stands, the DJ was nicely tucked away behind an echo DJ booth and was using the latest DJ software and equipment of a MacBook and Traktor Pro.

We were, unfortunately, let down by a DJ at the last minute, this was the Monday and I was expecting my pub to be full on Saturday night for our 1 year Anniversary party. I quickly phoned a few Dj’s and found Your Event, they sound the most professional, I’m pleased to say their professional approach carried on from there, I got emails from them at every point confirming the next step. On Saturday night they turned up on time and ran a great disco for my event. My customers were aged from 30-80+. Your event catered for all of them with music from the ’60s to now.
